Statement: Justice Donald McLeod Judicial Review

By | Press Release

(August 23, 2018) The Federation of Black Canadians (FBC-FCN) is aware of the disciplinary hearing related to a single complaint of judicial misconduct against Justice Donald McLeod, as a result of his work with the Federation of Black Canadians.

Since the complaint was presented to the Ontario Judicial Council, Justice McLeod stepped down as chair of the organization in June 2018.

We have full confidence in the legal process and trust that the matter will be resolved swiftly, in a way that upholds the integrity, impartiality and independence of the judiciary.

Believing in the full potential of Black Canadians, and honouring their positive contributions to all aspects of Canadian life, the Federation of Black Canadians is proud to encourage and work with individual citizens, community organizations, public servants and governments in advancing solutions to a range of challenges facing our communities.

In this, we will continue to shed light on serious obstacles facing Canadians of African descent and strive to eradicate racism and related forms of intolerance. We look forward to pursuing our collaborations with like-minded community organizations and public institutions across the country, in order to implement practical, long-term solutions that advance the social, economic, political and cultural interests of Black Canadians.
