Covid won’t stop, can’t stop, us from showcasing our community’s incredible talents!
Purpose:
In partnership with our national Youth Council, FBC has decided to host a national virtual Talent Show in October 2021
While one of FBC’s main goals is to connect Black Canadians and support social, economic, and political interests of the Afro- Canadian Diaspora, it also holds the responsibility of bringing light to the incredible work, talents, and skills of the dynamic community. This means finding unique ways to encourage community connections, showcase our people, work, and talents, and provide a platform for opportunity.
Background:
The Federation of Black Canadians (FBC) is a national non-profit organization that seeks to rally Black Canadians together around national issues, opportunities, and or initiatives. The FBC supports the social, economic, and political interests of the Afro- Canadian Diaspora and works to connect Black Canadians across Canada. FBC’s value proposition stems from its ability to connect, support, and strengthen the various voices of Black Canadians across Canada.

7-9 pm EST (BC starts at 4 pm their time and NFLD would start at 9 pm their time)

Virtual – Stream Yard
Main Goals & Reasons for the Event:
- Provide a platform to showcase Black talent from all across Canada
- Create a unique way to bring together our formal members, the broader community and allies with the Black community in a social engagement manner
- Create a positive and fun filled environment that respects Covid19 restrictions
- Create a new annual event opportunity using FBC’s large platform
- Support our national re-engagement strategy post the heart of Covid19 setbacks
- Collect donations to support the work of FBC, and the development of our future Bursary programs to support Young Adults
Talent Categories: (up to 3 minutes per candidate)
- Song (Band/ Instrument/ acapella)
- Spoken Word/ Poetry
- Entertainment (Magic/ Comedy / Physical Ability)
- Dance
- Other
Eligibility to apply to be a performer:
- Must self identify as Black and or as part of the Canadian Afro Diaspora
- Must be living in Canada
- Must align with the values and professional code of conduct of the FBC
- Must complete the FBC Talent Show Screening Questions
- Must complete the FBC Talent Show interview
Prize opportunities for Performers
- First Place – $1,000
- Second Place – $700
- Third Place – $300
