Our brothers, sisters, and folks in Haiti are in need of help after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake claimed the lives of over 1,200 people in recent weeks. There are probably thousands more Haitians that have yet to be found as rescue workers and locals alike search through the rubble. This devastating earthquake resulted in 5,000 people being injured and thousands more internally displaced citizens. In addition to this earthquake, other climate-induced tragedies such as tropical storms continue to hinder the country’s recovery efforts.
FBC stands in solidarity with our Haitian kinfolk here in the diaspora and back home who are dealing with this traumatic event. We will continue to aid in providing awareness and resources in regard to these events.
The recent crisis and instability caused by the Killing of Jovenel Moise, a Haitian entrepreneur, and politician who served as the president of Haiti from 2017 until his assassination in 2021, makes it even harder for them to cater to their needs at this time.
