Newcomers Program 2025
We welcome Oasis Lending Group as our first community partner for our Newcomers Program. The Oasis Mentorship Program: Aimed to empower recent Black international student graduates by connecting them with experienced mentors who provide career guidance, goal-setting support, and serve as role models. Through our partnership with Oasis they are engaged in a two-year project to help Black youth, particularly newcomers and NEET youth in Ontario, overcome employment and educational barriers. This initiative offers a comprehensive blend of group activities, skills development workshops, mentorship, and individualized support tailored to participants’ needs. About the Newcomers Program
The Newcomers Program is a two-year initiative designed to overcome education and employment barriers for newcomers and NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training) Black youth across Canada. Building on the success of our Support for Student Learning Program (SSLP), this program will engage over 50 Black youth in two year-long cohorts. Through a combination of targeted skills development workshops and individualized wrap-around support, the program fosters educational attainment, workplace readiness, and holistic growth.

Who is eligible to apply for the program?
Our program is open to Black and African youth, as well as other marginalized groups, aged 15-30, who are facing barriers to employment. This includes NEET youth (Not in Employment, Education or Training) Certain partner programs might have additional or slightly different eligibility requirements, if you have any questions on eligibility please email us at programs@fbcfcn.ca
What is the deadline for applications?
What kind of support does the program offer?
Participants receive mentorship, career building workshops and opportunities to network.
How long is the training program?
There will typically be a 30 minute meeting with your mentor bi-weekly and a 1-2 hour workshops monthly subject to change
Where is the program available?
Our first cohorts run through Oasis are based in Ontario, and there will be an Alberta cohort coming soon.
