What is Canada Summer Jobs?
Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) is a federal initiative that helps young people aged 15 to 30 gain meaningful work experience during the summer months. Through this program, employers across the country receive funding to create quality job opportunities in a wide range of sectors—from non-profits and community organizations to small businesses and public institutions.
For 2026, the program is expected to support up to 100,000 jobs, making it one of the largest youth employment initiatives in the country.
A Focus on Equity and Inclusion
This year’s program continues to prioritize youth who face systemic barriers to employment, including:
- Black youth and other racialized youth
- Indigenous youth
- Youth with disabilities
- 2SLGBTQI+ youth
- Youth in rural, remote, and official language minority communities
By intentionally supporting these groups, CSJ is helping to build a more equitable workforce.
