SSLP: Empowering Futures, One Student at a Time

The Supports for Student Learning Program (SSLP) launched its second Brampton cohort in September, continuing its mission to make a significant impact on the educational landscape. In the 2022-23 academic year, we initially launched SSLP in Brampton, Ontario, through Skills for Life (SFL), and its success led us to expand it across Canada, benefiting over 150 Black youth.

The SSLP is designed to empower youth by providing mentorship, life skills, academic support, and physical and mental wellness assistance. This comprehensive program also offers educational bursaries to further bolster the opportunities available to students. Beyond mentorship and academic assistance, the SSLP fosters personal growth and resilience, equipping students with the tools to overcome challenges and succeed in their educational journeys.

Furthermore, the SSLP has provided over $250,000 in educational bursaries, ensuring that financial constraints do not limit students’ potential. The program’s expansion is a testament to its effectiveness, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and educational success among the youth it serves.

We are delighted to report that we have raised over $40,000 and counting to support the continuation of the SSLP in its second year. Please note that some spots are still remaining for the Brampton cohort, if you are interested or know anyone who can benefit from this program, find the registration link here.
