Celebrating Black Cinema: FBC’s Partnership with the Toronto Black Film Festival
During Black History Month, FBC had the opportunity to partner with the Toronto Black Film Festival held across Toronto for 5 days. FBC’s Executive Director Chris Thompson was able to take part in the opening night festivities, from the opening film “Goodbye Julia” to the live performances later on in the evening. FBC was also able to co-present a film, “Real Estate Sisters” a horror comedy, and was able to send an FBC supporter to the film.
FBC is proud to support the Toronto Black Film Festival and looking forward to supporting the Ottawa Black Film Festival, and Montreal Black Film Festival later in the year.
Tech Empowerment: FBC’s Collaboration with GeoComply
FBC has also partnered with GeoComply, a tech company providing fraud prevention and cybersecurity solutions that detect location fraud and help verify a user’s true digital identity. We partnered with them to provide workshops focused on tech trends, being a black professional in tech, and how to break into tech. We look forward to continuing our partnership with GeoComply.
Driving Social Change: FBC’s Alliance with York United FC
FBC has entered an agreement with York United FC of the Canadian Premier League. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in leveraging the power of sports and community advocacy to drive positive change.
The Federation of Black Canadians, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the social, economic, and cultural prosperity of Black Canadians, is joining hands with York United FC, a prominent professional soccer club in the Canadian Premier League (CPL), to address systemic issues of discrimination and inequality.
Through this partnership, both of our organizations will work hand-in-hand to develop and implement initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, and social justice within their respective spheres of influence. From educational programs to community outreach initiatives, FBC and YUFC are committed to fostering a more equitable and inclusive society for all Canadians.
