This month as part of the Federation of Black Canadians (FBC) dedication to helping support Black owned, or Black focused organizations in Canada. We are highlighting a few non profits, business and organizations, including some of our amazing Black Builders! We’ve provided links and and short descriptions of each black non profit, so that our readers can learn more.

Cavlom Enterprise

Our mission to make clean and affordable energy available to low-income communities primarily in emerging communities is currently testing our model by repurposing gasoline rickshaws into electric with the intent of using them to provide electricity.

Francophonie Canadienne Plurielle Société

The FRAP is a non-profit organization created in 2014. Today represents Francophone and Assimilated newcomers and immigrants established in Alberta and works for their social, economic, and cultural inclusion. Alphonse is the CEO of la FRAP, a member of the Alberta Premier’s Council on Multiculturalism, a member of the National Advisory Committee for Francophone Settlement, and an Executive member of the Canadian Council for Refugees.

When The Village Meditates  is a nonprofit dedicated to creating meditation, yoga and discussion spaces as well as wellness retreats for racialized and marginalized people. Fimo Mitchell founded the nonprofit during the summer of 2020 with the hope of offering a safe and inclusive space where individuals may embark on a journey inward while being part of an empathetic and compassionate community. When The Village Meditates is a place of contemplation, connection and liberation.
