While internet speed, affordability and quality, and household access to internet-enabled devices are important factors that help us understand why certain populations do not have access to the internet, socioeconomic factors of income, age, and race are also important factors that help explain the digital divide.
Toronto’s Initiative to Expand Public Wi-Fi
Recognizing the importance of bridging the digital divide, the City of Toronto is developing a strategy to expand free public Wi-Fi access. This initiative aims to provide reliable internet access in public spaces, ensuring that all residents can benefit from the opportunities the digital world offers.

The City of Toronto values community input and is seeking your feedback on the public Wi-Fi expansion strategy. By participating, you can help shape an inclusive digital future for everyone in the city.
- Fill Out the Survey: Share your thoughts and experiences by completing the survey by June 18th. Participants who complete the survey and email a confirmation to info@fbcfcn.ca will be entered into a raffle to win one of two $50 gift cards.
- Join the Focus Group: For a more in-depth discussion, register for our focus group. Limited to 15 participants, this session offers a chance to provide detailed feedback and earn a $25 gift card.
