Participate in Research: City of Toronto’s Public Wi-Fi Initiative

Jun 10, 2024

While internet speed, affordability and quality, and household access to internet-enabled devices are important factors that help us understand why certain populations do not have access to the internet, socioeconomic factors of income, age, and race are also important factors that help explain the digital divide.

Toronto’s Initiative to Expand Public Wi-Fi

Recognizing the importance of bridging the digital divide, the City of Toronto is developing a strategy to expand free public Wi-Fi access. This initiative aims to provide reliable internet access in public spaces, ensuring that all residents can benefit from the opportunities the digital world offers.
