Ontario Snap Election: Election Guide

A provincial general election has been called. Election day is February 27.

Why Vote?
Voting is a fundamental right and a way to have your voice heard in shaping the future of Ontario. Your vote influences policies on healthcare, education, employment, and more. Every vote counts!

How to Vote?
There are several ways to cast your ballot in Ontario:

🗳️ Vote in Person

  • Vote at your assigned voting location from 9 AM to 9 PM (EST) on Election Day (February 27).
  • If you cannot vote on Election Day, you can vote early at an advance polling station in your electoral district from 10 AM to 8 PM (EST) from February 20 to 22

What to Bring?
✔️ Your Voter Information Card (VIC)
✔️ Accepted Identification that shows your name and residential address (e.g., driver’s license, utility bill, or any government-issued document with your name and address)

🡪 Your polling station is assigned based on your home address. Electors who are on the Register will receive a Voter Information Card (VIC) in the mail from February 17 to 22 with information about when and where to vote.

🡪 You can still vote if you do not receive a voter information card. Bring one piece of ID showing both your name and current home address when you go to vote.

🡪 You can also find your polling station by visiting www.elections.on.ca and entering your postal code. 

✉️ Vote by Mail

    • Apply to vote by mail at votebymail.elections.on.ca.
  • Elections Ontario must receive your application by 6 PM (EST) on
    • February 21.
  • Elections Ontario must receive your completed voting kit by 6 PM (EST)
  • on February 27 to be counted.

Who can vote?

To vote in an Ontario election, you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older on election day;
  • a Canadian citizen; and
  • a resident of Ontario.

Accessibility

You can use assistive voting technology at the designated area advance poll from February 20 to 22, at your local election office from February 20 to 26 or by appointment on election day.
