Celebrating Community Achievements, Uplifting Black Excellence — Now as a Registered Charity

Toronto, June 11th, 2025 — The Federation of Black Canadians (FBC) and Skills for Life (SFL) is thrilled to announce that tickets are now officially on sale for the highly anticipated 2025 Impact Gala, returning this fall to celebrate the excellence, resilience, and contributions of Black Canadians across the country. This year’s gala marks a special milestone as FBC celebrates its first year as a newly registered charity in Canada.

The 2025 Impact Gala will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Dreams Convention Centre in Brampton, Ontario, promising an unforgettable evening filled with community connection, live entertainment, and recognition of Black excellence.

Attendees can expect:

• Awards Ceremony celebrating individuals and organizations across categories such as: Promising Athlete, Excellence as an Educator, Community Health, Black Advocacy, Young Black Entrepreneur, Black Builder, Community Impact, and Exceptional Allyship. 
• Formal Sit-Down Dinner offering a curated gourmet menu. 
• Silent Auction & Raffle Prizes donated by local businesses and partners. 
• Exclusive Giveaways and interactive elements throughout the evening. 
• Live Performances and entertainment (to be announced). 

“As a newly registered charity, this year’s Gala carries extra significance,” says Christopher Thompson, Executive Director of the Federation of Black Canadians. “This event is more than a celebration—it’s a call to action to support the meaningful work being done to create systemic change, empower youth, and build thriving Black communities across Canada.”

Proceeds from the Gala will directly support FBC’s and Skills For Life’s programming, including its Supports for Student Learning Program and Black Entrepreneurship Program—initiatives that empower Black youth, dismantle barriers to education and employment, and invest in long-term community development.

Skills For Life aligns with the “Mindset Growth Model”, which amplifies the importance of continuous learning and self-discovery. The concept was founded on the principles of exploring, confronting, and moving past failure to build on key transferable skills that can be practically applied to daily life. We organize workshops, events, and other initiatives to fill the gap between traditional learning and practical skills.
