Join us this weekend for Heritage Unveiled, a virtual event celebrating the significant contributions of Black Canadians to our history, culture, and society.
Heritage Unveiled promises an afternoon filled with education, thought-provoking discussions, and community connection. The event aims to highlight the significant role Black Canadians have played in shaping our nation’s history, with a particular focus on contributions to Montreal and broader Canadian society.
The event will feature a keynote by renowned historian Rito Joseph, who will explore the contributions of Black Canadians to our shared history. Following the keynote, a panel of four inspiring community leaders will discuss their work and impact:
- Chris Luamba, legal advocate and organizer, will discuss challenging systemic racism in Montreal.
- Wilkenson Derisme, founder of Fondation MusiqualiT, supports Black artists through cultural events.
- Samanta Nyinawamuntu, founder of the Black Healing Centre, advocates for mental health in Black communities.
- Lourdenie Jean, environmental activist, fights for environmental justice and equity.
The event will conclude with a performance by local artists Joyciana and Ryan.
