Giving Tuesday: Make an Impact and Support Black Communities Across Canada
Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity, encouraging individuals, businesses, and organizations to give back and support causes that create meaningful change. This year, the Federation of Black Canadians (FBC) invites you to be part of that movement by investing in opportunities, strengthening communities, and advancing the social and economic wellbeing of Black Canadians.
What Is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is an annual global movement that takes place on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It was created to inspire generosity and encourage people to support charitable organizations, community initiatives, and causes that make a difference.
Whether through financial contributions, volunteering, or spreading awareness, Giving Tuesday reminds us that everyone has something to give and that collective generosity can create lasting impact.
At the Federation of Black Canadians, we believe in the power of community and the importance of investing in initiatives that create meaningful opportunities for Canada’s Black communities.
As a national registered charity, FBC works alongside Black communities, organizations, and individuals across Canada to advance education, entrepreneurship, employment development, community building, and overall wellbeing.
Your support helps us continue this work and build a stronger future together.
Why Support the Federation of Black Canadians?
Investing in Black communities means investing in a stronger and more equitable Canada.
Through our programs, partnerships, and advocacy initiatives, FBC works to address barriers and create opportunities for Black Canadians at different stages of life.
Your generosity helps support initiatives that:
- Advance Education: Expand access to educational resources, mentorship, scholarships, and learning opportunities for Black youth.
- Support Black Entrepreneurs: Provide aspiring and established Black business owners with training, mentorship, business development resources, and access to funding opportunities.
- Create Employment Opportunities: Connect Black youth, newcomers, and job seekers with skills development, employment training, and meaningful career opportunities.
- Strengthen Communities: Support Black-led organizations and community initiatives through partnerships, resources, and financial assistance.
- Promote Equity and Wellbeing: Advance advocacy and initiatives that address systemic barriers and improve outcomes for Black Canadians.
Every contribution helps strengthen the programs, partnerships, and initiatives working to create lasting change.
Other Ways to Give
There is no single way to make an impact. Whether you are an individual donor, business owner, corporate partner, or community supporter, there are several ways to contribute to FBC’s work.
1. Make an Online Donation
Support FBC through a one-time or recurring monthly donation using our secure online donation platform.
Whether large or small, every contribution helps us continue advancing education, entrepreneurship, and community wellbeing across Canada’s Black communities.
2. Give a Gift of Securities (New!)
Looking for a tax-efficient way to make a charitable contribution?
Donating publicly traded securities, including stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, can be an effective way to support charitable organizations.
When eligible securities are donated directly to a registered charity, donors may benefit from favourable tax treatment, including avoiding capital gains tax on accrued gains. This allows FBC to receive the full market value of your donated securities while potentially providing you with additional tax advantages.
We recommend consulting your financial or tax advisor to understand how a gift of securities may benefit your individual circumstances.
3. Corporate Giving and Employee Donation Matching
Your workplace may offer an opportunity to make your donation go even further.
Many companies have corporate giving and employee donation-matching programs that encourage staff to support charitable organizations. Through platforms like Benevity, employees can donate directly to eligible charities, while participating employers may match their contributions.
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Check whether your employer participates in Benevity or another workplace giving program.
- Search for the Federation of Black Canadians in your company’s charitable giving portal.
- Make a contribution through your workplace giving platform.
- Check whether your employer offers donation matching or volunteer grant opportunities.

Giving Doesn’t Always Have to Be Financial
We recognize that not everyone is in a position to make a financial contribution, and that’s okay. Supporting a cause can take many forms, and your time, voice, skills, and networks can be just as valuable.
Here are three additional ways you can support FBC this Giving Tuesday and throughout the year.
Share Our Story
One of the easiest ways to support FBC is by helping us spread the word.
Follow us on social media, like our posts, share our content, and help amplify the stories, programs, and opportunities we are creating. Every share introduces our work to new audiences and helps connect more people with resources and initiatives that can benefit them.
Help us grow our community and expand our reach.
Volunteer Your Time
Your skills, knowledge, and time can make a meaningful difference.
FBC welcomes opportunities to connect with individuals who are interested in contributing their expertise and supporting our work. Whether you have experience in marketing, communications, event planning, mentorship, business development, or community engagement, volunteering is another way to invest in our mission.
Interested in volunteering? Reach out to our team to learn about opportunities to get involved.
Connect Us With Your Network
You can also support FBC by introducing us to individuals, businesses, funders, and organizations that share our commitment to advancing Black communities.
Whether it’s connecting us with a potential corporate partner, sharing a program opportunity, or introducing someone to our network, your connections can help create new opportunities and strengthen our collective impact.
Stronger Together: Help Us Build a Better Future
At the Federation of Black Canadians, our work is rooted in the belief that meaningful change happens when communities come together.
Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to reflect on what we can accomplish when we invest in one another. Whether you make a financial contribution, donate securities, participate in an employee matching program, volunteer your time, or simply share our story, your support matters.
Together, we can continue creating opportunities, addressing systemic barriers, and building stronger, more connected Black communities across Canada.
This Giving Tuesday, be part of the impact.
Stronger Together. Nothing About Us Without Us.
