Meet Nina Barango: Black Entrepreneurship Program Grad & Black Builder

Feb 5, 2025

PluggedIn is the brainchild of Nina Barango, founder of SoPlugged, a platform that connects Black entrepreneurs in Canada with customers, resources, and opportunities.

Nina’s entrepreneurial journey took a major leap after going through FBC’s Black Entrepreneurship Program (BEP), where she gained the insights, mentorship, and support to scale her vision.

“The BEP gave me clarity—not just on my business, but on the kind of impact I want to have,” she says.

Now, she’s creating spaces for other Black entrepreneurs to grow, thrive, and win.

“We face unique challenges, but we also bring unique value to the table,” she shares. “PluggedIn is about making sure we have the knowledge, capital, and connections to build successful businesses.”

PluggedIn: A Must-Attend Event for Black Entrepreneurs

PluggedIn, a networking event for Black founders, entrepreneurs, and creators, is happening this Saturday, February 8, at Bayview Yards in Ottawa. Ran by our Black Entrepreneurship Program alumni, current Black Builder Network and employee at the Federation of Black Canadians. Expect insightful conversations, practical workshops, and a pitch competition with up to $6,500 in funding on the table.

Tickets are still available—but not for long. Use code PLUGGEDIN-FBC at checkout and secure your spot.
