Brampton, ON — The Federation of Black Canadians (FBC) is proud to release its 2024 Impact Report, highlighting a transformative year of national progress, community building, and new beginnings—most notably, the organization’s official designation as a registered Canadian charity.
Driven by its commitment to dismantling systemic barriers and amplifying Black voices, FBC’s 2024 milestones include:
-
$800,000+ in financial aid distributed to Black youth, entrepreneurs, and community organizations
-
245 new Black entrepreneurs supported through pitch competitions, training, and micro-grants
-
100+ Black-led organizations empowered through funding and programming partnerships
-
36 Black-centric events across Canada celebrating community, culture, and leadership
-
42 new community partnerships that foster long-term equity-focused collaboration
“This past year has been a defining chapter for our organization,” says Chris Thompson, Executive Director of FBC. “From building stronger pathways to health equity and employment, to supporting Black newcomers and youth across the country, every initiative has been rooted in our belief that we are stronger together.”
The report outlines FBC’s deep work across its four key pillars:
🩺 Total Health – Addressing health disparities through research, community outreach, and vaccination awareness campaigns
📚 Lifelong Learning – Providing over $279,000 in bursaries and mentorship for Black students
💼 Employment Development – Supporting skills training, networking, and youth employment opportunities
⚖️ Criminal Justice Reform – Advocating for systemic change in Canada’s justice system and public service
The newly published Impact Report also showcases the success of major events such as FBC’s annual Impact Gala Fundraiser, which raised over $40,000 for Black youth programs, and the expansion of the Black Builders Network, a national hub for Black entrepreneurs and nonprofits.
Looking ahead to 2025, FBC remains focused on building a more inclusive and equitable Canada for all through partnerships, advocacy, and grassroots-driven solutions.
