Higher Education

The goal of the FBC in regards to higher education involves promoting excellence and eliminating systemic barriers to success in schools and classrooms. Institutional racism is a rampant issue in these spaces that are integral to cultivating critical thinkers and informed members of society. The FBC aims to create campaigns to expose the realities of systemic barriers within higher education, with the support of statistics and thorough research. We aim to promote policy reform, leveraging knowledge gathering form our relevant stakeholders, and acknowledging the various factors contributing to the school to prison pipeline for the Black Canadian community.

Black students are four times more likely to be expelled from a Toronto high school than White students.

Black university graduates earn only 80 cents for every dollar earned by White university graduates – despite having the same credentials
