The Black Pulse Project
The Black Pulse project aims to promote diversity and inclusion, and in turn counter online hate.
Funded by the Government of Canada, this project is a national digital engagement campaign that provides educational tools to promote Black Canadian history and combat online hate in partnership with other community organizations. Our goal is to improve understanding of anti-black racism among Canadians of all backgrounds.
This project aims to have increase knowledge of online hate and indicate a better understanding of issues face by Black Canadians, while working to promote positive online culture. Black Canadian youth will have improved capacity to address racism and discrimination in their communities.
The project had three goals:
Develop digital educational tools to promote Black Canadian history and combat online hate; and establish and run the website.
Organize and deliver workshops, engagement events and forums gathering community, non-black allies, representatives from each region, government representatives, community organizations and others to participate in learning, conversations, and change.
Develop and implement a national digital engagement campaign.
